Scott Lacey, FPE, CSP Scott Lacey has over 25 years experience in the fire service with over ten years in code enforcement. He is a registered engineer having passed the NCEES Fire Protection Engineering exam, and is a Certified Safety Professional with the Board of Certified Safety Professionals. Following graduation from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Fire Protection and Safety Scott worked in LaPorte, Texas as a safety engineer for a large manufacturer of hydrogen peroxide, polyethylene and polypropylene plastics; served as a fire protection engineer for the Phoenix Building Department; and served as a supervisor of plan review and inspections for the Phoenix Fire Department Annual Facilities Permit section. While in LaPorte Scott participated on the Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC), was a Mayoral appointee to the City of LaPorte Fire Advisory Committee, and was a member of the Channel Industries Mutual Aid (CIMA) emergency response organization. While in Arizona Scott served as a Special Director for the AZ Chapter of the Automatic Fire Alarm Association, Vice President and President of the AZ Chapter of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers. In these positions he established several committees to develop state-wide standards for fire alarm and sprinkler shop drawing submittals while helping to lead a movement of the AZ State Board of Technical Registration to define minimum expectations of engineers for design documents. He is an active member of NFPA, and the Society of Fire Protection Engineers. In 2003-2005 he served on an NFPA task group for incorporating mass notification criteria into NFPA 72. He has participated in numerous industrial fire training programs at Texas A&M in College Station, and Lamar University. He attends yearly code development sessions at NFPA conferences, and has taken several National Fire Academy classes including an 80-hour code management course. Scott has worked as a consulting engineer leading the fire protection and life safety section of Cromwell Architects Engineers in Little Rock from July 2002 to November 2006. Scott is President of Lacey Fire Protection Engineering, and Codes and Standards Assessments, both of Greenbrier, Arkansas. Scott founded Codes and Standards Assessments (CSA) in January 2002 with a focus of developing contractor assessment exams for fire marshals and building officials in several states. CSA exams are available at over 230 proctored locations across the US. In addition to evaluating contractor qualifications, CSA staff provides plan review services for jurisdictions. In November 2006 Scott founded Lacey Fire Protection Engineering with the focus of offering fire protection engineering services to Arkansas design firms. Lacey FPE staff provides a variety of services including code research, analysis of existing conditions, performance design, design of fire protection systems, GSA building evaluations, and much more.
