IMPORTANT
Effective March 24th, we started delivering our assessments using new software. Tests will still be
proctored at ACT centers.
Over the next few weeks you will
also notice changes in how you request assessments.
To view screen shots of the new
test screens and format as well as some new UFM sample questions,
visit this link.
-
Each person will have an on-line account so that you will not have to
re-enter all your company information. We are transferring information
for some participants. Others will need to enter their information the
first time. Each time you request an assessment you will be asked to
verify information. These changes will be made during late March and
April.
-
Updated tests to latest
codes. Although we try to keep most of our questions valid for the
last three editions, some topics are considered critical and will be
updated. We will update information in the Assessment Overview Manual
as we get closer to implementation. Known topics to be updated
include:
-
FA4 Fire Alarm for Business Certificate
Holders / Designers - 2007 NFPA 72, tests may include new UL criteria for voltage drop
calculations, Fire alarm criteria
out of Section 907 of the International Building Code (IBC) 2006
edition. IBC criteria will be based on the model code from IBC and
not local amendments unless indicated otherwise. The FA4 test will
be a harder test than in the past with additional time to complete.
-
Questions on several tests are being re-evaluated for better
focus to the participant. Particular tests being evaluated for this
include level 2 tests for installers. Allowable time for tests has
been evaluated and some time will be added to a few tests.
-
Questions will be presented in one large group.
Currently tests such as those related to sprinklers are separated into
several question blocks such as NFPA 13, 13R, 25, etc. A disadvantage
to the current approach is that a participant can not go back to review
previous questions from other blocks. The new format will allow the
user to mark a question to be reviewed later. All the questions will
be presented in one group. The reference document will be indicated
with each question so that you know which book or criteria is applicable.
-
Automation and integration of multiple systems. This
will reduce chances for errors in participant information and passwords.
-
Report format and score feedback will change.
-
ACT proctoring, scheduling, and payment process will not
change.
-
We are hoping that companies and employees will be able to
access their employee test information such as previous tests, scores, dates,
etc. online using account log-in information. Our goal is that a
person can log into their account and view previous assessments as well as
request new assessments. Because each person will have an on-line
account you will not have to re-enter your contact and address information. This will speed the schedule request
process. More information will follow.
-
We will be moving away from the current participant ID
numbers for the security of our participants. Once implemented users
will be assigned unique ID and PIN numbers that they will need to keep up
with. Existing users in our system will be issued and notified of new
numbers. We will notify existing users of their new information based
on email addresses we have in our records. Details of this new system
are still being fully worked out.
-
Jurisdictions will have live access to participant pass/fail
information through dedicated Internet access. Jurisdictions will be
able to log in and see if a person has passed, the company we have in our
system for that person. Exact details still being finalized.
-
Additional enhancements are being evaluated.
-
Many of the enhancements are based on feedback from our users
over the last 5+ years. Thanks for your suggestions.
